في اثنتي عشرة ثانية، تأخذنا رواية مالومي من الشرفة إلى عالم بهاء، شاب أنهكه واقع يزداد جنونًا ووحشيةً وفقرًا في القيم، فيجد ملاذه الأخير في شرفته، المساحة الصغيرة التي بقيت له بعد أن حُرم حتى من الاعتناء بنبتة هناك.
بمساعدة أصدقاء لا يشبهون أحدًا، يبدأ بهاء في تشكيل عالمه الخاص داخل حدود الجسد، ويتسع قلبه ليصنع أفقه بيده. في مملكته المتخيلة، يتحول الكرسي المتحرك إلى عرش، ويغدو الحلم وسيلة لمواجهة القسوة.
لكن حتى هذا العالم النقي لا ينجو من أعداء السلام، فالمعركة قادمة، ويصبح على بهاء أن يدافع عن عالمه الذي تسلل إلى قلوب الآخرين مهما قاوموا.
